On behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), welcome to the 2020 CYFAR Professional Development Event. We are pleased to welcome staff from across the nation and the U.S. Territories to this exciting event. Through the support of this professional development event, USDA-NIFA emphasizes the importance of providing high-quality services to vulnerable communities and opportunities for program staff to discover and learn strategies that support the empowerment of youth and families through the Children, Youth, and Families At-Risk (CYFAR) Sustainable Communities Program.

We are delighted to welcome all CYFAR project staff to this year’s workshop.

The eight steps of the Cause Selling Cycle (prospecting, pre-approach, approach, need discovery, presentation, handling objections, making the ask, and stewardship) are the foundation of Relationship-Driven Fundraising. These steps walk you through every interaction with potential donors, from
